The Raven II speakers are designed to deliver stunning sound while fitting into the space you have designed to comfortably live in. They fit horizontally on most bookshelves or rest on our Speaker Stands.

In this design we wanted to deliver something well suited to modern life, and raise the bar in sound quality. The Raven IIs are designed to be driven by low powered tube amplifiers as well as high output solid state. They perform superbly with our Amp No. 2 and all of the LTA amps (my favorite being the Z40i or the Ultralinear Integrated) and if you are a solid state fan, the ModWright KWH-225i is a great match too!

The Raven IIs are a single-driver, sealed-box speaker with solid wood cabinets available in ash or walnut.

  • “I set the [Raven IIs and the Speaker Stands] up in my office the next day and they are sounding incredible. Several of my coworkers have come in and commented positively on the design aesthetics, but the best part was when one of my more skeptical colleagues came in and sat down to listen.  I watched her eyes go from narrow and somewhat sarcastic to wide and VERY appreciative.  Within 20 seconds she said (about Nora Jones) ‘it sounds like she's right here in the room!’  By the end of the first track she said ‘ok, now I get it.’ re the hobby in general.  Can't think of a better testament to your work.  Others have also really enjoyed them, but that was my favorite reaction so far.

I'm loving them.  Found myself listening so much more often than to my previous system, and even during the day.  I couldn't be more pleased.  Thank you so very much.  I think I needed the boost and this has been a delight.”

  • "BTW, I absolutely feel that the Raven II's are the finest full range speaker that I've had the pleasure of auditioning...Incredible by any standard."

"The driver itself is pretty amazing. It is made by Seas of Norway. The Raven II uses the 94 dB (8ohm) Seas Exotic driver. Seas specs the driver from 30 Hz to 20,000, but the Raven IIs start rolling off around 67 Hz with a gentle 3 db slope. This allows for more accurate bass when mounted in a bookcase or in the corners of a room. The slope is also almost perfect for mating with a subwoofer if you choose to use them in free-standing space."

"With that beautiful wooden enclosure, these are probably the type of loudspeakers that keep getting better over the months, even the years. Solid wood, as opposed to wood veneer, does that over time. It ages. It changes. It improves.

That, after all, is the very definition of an heirloom—something that increases in value over time, especially in terms of your emotional connection to it. The Fern and Roby Raven II ... creates an emotional bond that strengthens over the years. Once again this is not a loudspeaker for a typical audiophile, one who worries about what others think. This will become your speaker, and no one else’s opinion will matter."

"The real proposition for the Raven II lies around the idea that they are a true bookshelf style speaker and in that regard, they are most successful – maybe the most successful. A bookshelf would be so lucky to house these well-crafted speakers in a horizontal position. Its hifi in a truly small space. For what they are, they provide. Plenty of snap, detail and fidelity to spare from a single driver."
